This Privacy Policy explains what personal information HumanTangle may process when you visit HumanTangle.com, contact HumanTangle or purchase HumanTangle: What Pulls Us directly from the website. HumanTangle aims to collect only information that has a genuine reason to exist.

When you purchase HumanTangle: What Pulls Us, HumanTangle may receive information needed to complete and support the order, such as your name, email address, order details, payment status, transaction reference and information needed to deliver the digital book.
This information may be used to process the purchase, provide the PDF and EPUB editions, confirm delivery, investigate duplicate or failed payments, restore legitimate access where necessary, handle refunds where applicable, maintain transaction records and respond to purchase-related questions.
HumanTangle does not ask you to send complete payment-card details through its Contact page or ordinary email.
Payments may be processed by a payment provider such as Stripe. Payment providers process payment-related information through their own systems. Depending on the transaction, this can include card or payment-method information, billing information, fraud-prevention information and transaction data.
HumanTangle generally receives information about the transaction rather than the complete payment credentials used to make it. Stripe and other payment providers process information under their own privacy practices.
If you use the Contact page or otherwise contact HumanTangle, information you provide may include your name, email address, message and any information you choose to include in the inquiry.
Please do not submit complete payment-card numbers, passwords, medical records or other unnecessary sensitive information through the Contact form.
Contact information may be used to respond to the inquiry, investigate a purchase or delivery problem where relevant, maintain appropriate records of the communication and protect HumanTangle from misuse.
HumanTangle’s hosting, security and web infrastructure may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. Depending on the systems in use, this may include IP address, browser or device information, request timestamps, pages requested, security events and server logs.
This information may be processed to operate the website, prevent abuse, investigate technical problems and maintain security.
HumanTangle may use Google Analytics for general website measurement. When Google Analytics is enabled, and where analytics consent is required, it should not be activated until the visitor chooses to allow analytics.
When enabled, Google Analytics may process information such as session activity, approximate location, browser and device information and information about how pages are used. HumanTangle does not use this analytics setup for behavioral advertising or retargeting.
Analytics information may be used to understand which pages are visited, how visitors navigate the site and whether parts of the website are functioning or being found as expected. Google processes Analytics information under Google’s own terms and privacy practices.
The current Cookie Policy and Cookie Settings describe the live analytics-consent setup. If Google Analytics is not enabled, this section does not mean that Analytics data is being collected.
HumanTangle may use storage that is necessary for functions such as security, checkout, consent preferences or other essential website operations.
When Google Analytics is enabled, analytics cookies or similar storage should be used only in accordance with the visitor’s consent where consent is required. HumanTangle does not use advertising or retargeting pixels as part of its current website model.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, personal information may be processed because it is necessary to perform a purchase contract, because HumanTangle has a legitimate operational or security reason to process it, because a legal or accounting obligation requires it, or because you have given consent.

HumanTangle does not sell personal information to advertisers.
Information may be processed by service providers genuinely needed to operate the website or complete a transaction, such as payment processors, website hosting or security providers, email or digital-delivery providers and, when enabled after any required consent, Google Analytics.
Service providers receive information in connection with the function they perform. Information may also be disclosed where reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to a lawful request, protect legal rights, investigate fraud or security abuse, or resolve a payment dispute.
HumanTangle operates online and may use service providers located in different countries. As a result, personal information may be processed outside the country where you live.
Where applicable data-protection law requires safeguards for international transfers, HumanTangle and its service providers are expected to rely on appropriate legal mechanisms for those transfers.
HumanTangle does not intend to keep personal information indefinitely merely because it was collected once.
Purchase and transaction records may be kept for as long as reasonably necessary for order support, accounting, taxation, fraud prevention, chargebacks, legal obligations and legitimate recordkeeping. Contact messages may be kept for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the inquiry and maintain an appropriate record. Technical and security records may be retained according to operational and security needs.
When Google Analytics is enabled, user-level and event-level information is retained according to the retention settings actually configured for the HumanTangle Analytics property and Google’s applicable processing rules.
When information is no longer reasonably required, it may be deleted, anonymized or allowed to expire.
Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you rights relating to your personal information. These may include rights to request access, correction or deletion; restrict or object to certain processing; receive certain information in a portable form; withdraw consent where processing depends on consent; and complain to an applicable data-protection authority.
These rights are not identical in every jurisdiction and may be subject to lawful exceptions. To make a privacy request, contact HumanTangle through the Contact page. HumanTangle may need enough information to confirm that the request relates to the correct person before acting on it.
If you consent to analytics and later change your mind, you can change your choice through Cookie Settings. Withdrawing consent does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful, but it should affect future analytics processing governed by that consent.
HumanTangle is intended for a general audience and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children through profiles, social features or child-directed services.
If you believe a child has submitted personal information to HumanTangle in circumstances where it should not have been collected, contact HumanTangle so the situation can be reviewed.
HumanTangle uses reasonable technical and operational measures intended to protect the website, digital delivery and information processed through them. No internet service can truthfully promise absolute security.
If HumanTangle becomes aware of a security incident involving personal information, it will address the incident according to the circumstances and applicable legal obligations.
HumanTangle may link to research databases, publications, retailers, institutions or other external websites. Their privacy practices are controlled by those organizations, not HumanTangle. Review the relevant privacy information if you choose to use an external service.
HumanTangle may update this Privacy Policy when its website, services, data practices or legal obligations materially change. The current version will display its latest update date.
If HumanTangle begins using personal information for a materially different purpose that requires additional notice or consent, that change should not be hidden inside an unnoticed policy rewrite.
